The vulnerability
What the bug is
mmc_hsq_pump_requests() queues retry_work when request_atomic() returns -EBUSY; today sdhci-sprd is the only consumer that implements request_atomic(). The work is embedded in a devm-allocated mmc_hsq, but is never cancelled during driver removal. Work still pending at unbind can therefore run after the devm allocation has been released and dereference hsq->mmc and hsq->mrq. Use devm_work_autocancel() to cancel and drain retry_work before the devm allocation is released. By the time devres cleanup begins, mmc_remove_host() has already stopped the host, so no new requests can arm the work. This issue was found by an in-house static analysis tool.
Where it lives
The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.

Check it on the machine
grep -w CONFIG_MMC_HSQ /boot/config-$(uname -r)Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.
lsmod | grep -w mmc_hsqPrints a line if that module is loaded right now, and nothing if it is not. One that is not loaded can still be loaded later by anything that needs it.

Why the CNA scored it this way
The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-98212, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
