The vulnerability
What the bug is
If usb_add_gadget_udc() fails, r8a66597_probe() jumps to err_add_udc and frees ep0_req, then falls through to clean_up2 where ep0_req is freed again when it is non-NULL. Remove the redundant free from err_add_udc and keep the cleanup in clean_up2 so the request is released exactly once. Issue found using a prototype static analysis tool and confirmed by code review.
Where it lives
The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.
drivers/usb/gadget/udc/r8a66597-udc.c
- What this is
- USB SUBSYSTEMMAINTAINERS section matched on drivers/usb/ · linux-usb@vger.kernel.org · Supported
- Kernel module
- none to look for. The file would have gone into r8a66597_udc, and Debian does not compile it into that module, so finding r8a66597_udc in lsmod would say nothing about this CVE.
Check it on the machine
grep -wE 'CONFIG_OF|CONFIG_PCI|CONFIG_USB|CONFIG_USB_GADGET|CONFIG_USB_PHY|CONFIG_USB_R8A66597|CONFIG_USB_SUPPORT' /boot/config-$(uname -r)Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.
Show whether Debian builds this, per release
Debian does not build this code. In 5 releases below, every kernel flavour Debian publishes has the switch off, so the vulnerable file is compiled into no kernel binary Debian ships.

Why the CNA scored it this way
The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-93141, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
