The vulnerability
What the bug is
ast_udc_probe() allocates a coherent DMA buffer used as the backing store for endpoint buffers. ast_udc_init_ep() derives per-endpoint buffer pointers from udc->ep0_buf, so a failed allocation is dereferenced during probe. Check the allocation before endpoint setup. The existing probe error path called ast_udc_remove(), which unregisters the gadget unconditionally and is not safe before usb_add_gadget_udc() succeeds. Add a local cleanup helper for probe failures so pre-registration failures only unwind the resources that were actually initialized. This was found by a local static analysis checker for unchecked allocator returns while scanning Linux 6.16. The change was checked by applying it to current mainline and by running checkpatch. I do not have access to Aspeed UDC hardware, so no runtime testing was performed.
Where it lives
The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.

- Kernel module
- none to look for. The file would have gone into aspeed_udc, and Debian does not compile it into that module, so finding aspeed_udc in lsmod would say nothing about this CVE.
Check it on the machine
grep -wE 'CONFIG_OF|CONFIG_PCI|CONFIG_USB|CONFIG_USB_ASPEED_UDC|CONFIG_USB_GADGET|CONFIG_USB_PHY|CONFIG_USB_SUPPORT' /boot/config-$(uname -r)Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.
Show whether Debian builds this, per release
Debian does not build this code. In 5 releases below, every kernel flavour Debian publishes has the switch off, so the vulnerable file is compiled into no kernel binary Debian ships.

Why the CNA scored it this way
The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-93118, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
