The vulnerability

What the bug is

In netdevsim, receive queues (struct nsim_rq) embed their own struct napi_struct. When queue reset is performed (e.g. via queue_reset debugfs), nsim_queue_start() swaps in a newly allocated struct nsim_rq, and nsim_queue_mem_free() later deletes and frees the old one. However, nsim_queue_start() failed to update the queue-to-NAPI mapping via netif_queue_set_napi(). As a result, dev->_rx[idx].napi continued to point to the old NAPI struct. After the old queue was freed, a subsequent queue dump via Netlink (NETDEV_CMD_QUEUE_GET) triggered a KASAN slab-use-after-free read in nla_put_napi_id() when accessing rxq->napi->napi_id. Fix this by calling netif_queue_set_napi() in nsim_queue_start() to associate the new NAPI with the RX queue, and clear the association with netif_queue_set_napi(..., NULL) in nsim_del_napi() during teardown.

Where it lives

The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.

drivers/net/netdevsim/netdev.c

What this is
NETDEVSIMMAINTAINERS section matched on drivers/net/netdevsim/* · Maintained
Kernel module
none to look for. The file would have gone into netdevsim, and Debian does not compile it into that module, so finding netdevsim in lsmod would say nothing about this CVE.

Check it on the machine

grep -w CONFIG_NETDEVSIM /boot/config-$(uname -r)

Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.

Show whether Debian builds this, per release

Debian does not build this code. In 4 releases below, every kernel flavour Debian publishes has the switch off, so the vulnerable file is compiled into no kernel binary Debian ships.

Why the CNA scored it this way

The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-90113, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
