The vulnerability
What the bug is
A pseudo-locked group's RMID is freed when it is created. On unmount rmdir_all_sub() unconditionally frees all RMID of all groups, resulting in a double-free of the pseudo-locked group's RMID. The consequence of this is that the original free results in the pseudo-locked group's RMID being added to the rmid_free_lru linked list and the second free then attempts to add the same RMID entry to the rmid_free_lru again. Do not double-free a pseudo-locked group's RMID.
Where it lives
The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.

Check it on the machine
grep -w CONFIG_RESCTRL_FS /boot/config-$(uname -r)Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.
Show whether Debian builds this, per release
Debian builds this, but not on every flavour. At least one release below builds the code on some of its kernel flavours and not on others, so the answer depends on the architecture and flavour installed. The build rule could not be established for 3 releases, so nothing is claimed about those.

Where a release above reads "not established", no build rule for the affected file was found in that release's kernel tree. That is a gap in this lookup, not a finding that the code is absent.

Why the CNA scored it this way
The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-72015, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
