The vulnerability
What the bug is
In nci_close_device(), complete any pending data exchange before closing. The data exchange callback (e.g. rawsock_data_exchange_complete) holds a socket reference. NIPA occasionally hits this leak: unreferenced object 0xff1100000f435000 (size 2048): comm "nci_dev", pid 3954, jiffies 4295441245 hex dump (first 32 bytes): 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 27 00 01 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 '..@............ backtrace (crc ec2b3c5): __kmalloc_noprof+0x4db/0x730 sk_prot_alloc.isra.0+0xe4/0x1d0 sk_alloc+0x36/0x760 rawsock_create+0xd1/0x540 nfc_sock_create+0x11f/0x280 __sock_create+0x22d/0x630 __sys_socket+0x115/0x1d0 __x64_sys_socket+0x72/0xd0 do_syscall_64+0x117/0xfc0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x4b/0x53
Where it lives
The fix touches these files. If the subsystem is one you do not use, the practical exposure is lower, though the package is still the vulnerable one.

Check it on the machine
grep -wE 'CONFIG_NFC|CONFIG_NFC_NCI' /boot/config-$(uname -r)Reads the booted kernel's own configuration, on the machine and nowhere else. =y is built in, =m is a module, and an is not set line means the code is not there.
lsmod | grep -w nciPrints a line if that module is loaded right now, and nothing if it is not. One that is not loaded can still be loaded later by anything that needs it.
Show whether Debian builds this, per release
Debian builds this, but not on every flavour. At least one release below builds the code on some of its kernel flavours and not on others, so the answer depends on the architecture and flavour installed.
- bookworm, trixie, forky, sidMnot built on amd64/cloud-amd64, arm64/cloud-arm64
- M
- a module where it is built at all; some flavours do not build it
- Build switches
- CONFIG_NFC, CONFIG_NFC_NCI
- Reads as
- all on means the file is compiled; any one off means it is not.
From the configuration Debian publishes for every kernel flavour it builds. It covers only the architectures Debian ships a linux-config package for, and nothing about a kernel you built yourself. Debian's own status above stays authoritative about the source package.MAINTAINERS kbuild Makefiles Debian linux-config packages

Why the CNA scored it this way
The kernel CNA published no CVSS vector and no reasoning for CVE-2026-23330, which is why it is shown as unrated rather than given an invented score. 6,405 of the 20,413 CVEs here carry reasoning; this is not one of them.
